Legmeer
Bureau B+B has worked in close collaboration with the municipality of Amstelveen on the landscape framework and image quality plan of the New Legmeer urban district. New Legmeer will transform into a new mixed-use ‘working and living’ neighbourhood where housing and businesses will be combined and where a wide variety of housing, education, social services and public spaces will offer a new type of neighbourhood to the city of Amstelveen.

New Legmeer sets out to become an energy-neutral neighbourhood. Also, in the layout of the neighbourhood and its public spaces there is a strong focus on sustainable and resilient design; situated next to a regional tramline that connects the new neighbourhood to the surrounding region, New Legmeer will become a pedestrian and cycling-friendly neighbourhood. The entire heart of the neighbourhood is car-free. Parking will be situated in mobility hubs with no parking places in the public realm. New blue- and green structures, green profiles and public and ecological parks cause New Legmeer to become an urban yet green neighbourhood.
The area will step by step be transformed into a new city district in which existing and new companies will be realized. The entire district will eventually contain 3000 homes and provide space for 2400 jobs. The project has received a national subsidy for housing projects. Based on the current plans, the municipality and those involved can now take the next steps in the development of the new district. The first phase will be commissioned in early 2024.
