The hospital is located in a landscape chamber, framed by tree lanes. The design utilizes the surrounding landscape as a core quality by extending the meadow as far as possible towards the facade and by creating panoramas over the meadow. The main entrance and the entrance plaza of the PMC are located on the Hoofddijk. The entrance plaza is designed like a carpet and provides seating for patients and visitors. A bridge over one of the characteristic ditches emphasizes the landscape environment. Around the building, there are several gardens with sitting areas and colourful plant beds and there is room for all kinds of target groups and activities.

There are two enclosed inner gardens: a restaurant garden and a sports garden. In addition, there is a semi-open lianas garden, a roof garden and a silo garden, which also houses the nitrogen tank. In the meadow landscape, two hidden gardens are slightly recessed into the ground level.
